Saturday Jan, 21 2012 here in the streets of Sumter.

Today it was cold, raining, overcast and dark here in Sumter, S.C. So, Jason and I took to the streets in hopes of shining a little light into some lives today. One of our stops was at the local runaway shelter. There were 6 people there at the time. We could tell their spirits were a bit low. We learned that some of the kids  there had nothing more than the clothes on their backs. We were able to give away 7 winter coats, hats, many pairs of  gloves. and 5 large bags of all types of clothes for them. During our visit we learned that they did not have a Bible in the house anymore. It just so happened that we had just been to the store and bought 3 new Bibles for just "such a time." After a very nice, fun visit with these kids we noticed that there were smiles all around and the mood there was lighter than when we arrived. To God be the Glory! On another stop ..The Light House of Hope Homeless Shelter, we were able to give away 6 winter coats and many hats. These guys were very happy to receive some new items of warmth. We had a great visit with these folks as well!

Then it was off to tent city where we got great news!!! Larry had moved into a house in Wedgefeild and Tim had gone into rehab. Tim and his parents had reconciled and they were supporting his efforts in rehab. God absolutely delivered these guys from tent city! This news was an  answer to our prayers indeed. Now Jimmy was left all alone in tent city on this dark cold day. He was down hearted to say the least...During our conversation with Jimmy we learned that he needed some socks and he was in need of an Old Testament because he had read all of the new testament we had given him a few months ago. We were able to give Jimmy 14 pairs of new socks and a new Bible and a big box of twinkies. We spent some time with him standing out in the rain under the trees. I think we were able to give him some hope before we left him. All in all for the day ,we gave away 13 Winter Coats, 13 Hats, 7 Pr. Gloves and 14 Pr of socks to people that had a real need. But more importantly we were able to let these folks know that they were loved and someone cared enough about them to come out on a day like this and just share a smile and some time. I think we are all called to go out and give this God Love to all people. Today was a great day indeed!!! God blessed them and us today. If you have warm items to give folks in need......let the Lord lead you to do so. If you do not have it to give...give them your smile and the hope of Jesus' love!
